Welcome

A warm welcome to the Mike The Bike Cycle Challenge 2008.
This is the first event to be held celebrating the life of Mike "The Bike" Whitwell who sadly passed away in September 2007.

Inspired by Mike's cycling achievements for Weston Hospicecare, Ben, his son and friends cycled from Mike's home in Hutton, Weston-super-Mare to Land's End on 12th June 2008, finishing at Lands End on 14th June -which would have been Mike's 60th birthday. They had no back-up vehicles, using nothing but pedal power and determination.

A big thank you to everyone who sponsored the event. Money is still coming in, we estimate we have raised £5,000 for Weston Hospicecare.

News - at a glance

November 2nd: The team has been selected, and bikes are being prepared. Training begins after Christmas.

December 29th: Training as begun with the first 10 miles in the cold and the wet.

February 9th: Training has increased to 40 miles per weekend. A team of four panted their way around a 26 mile loop. See the photos!
